South China has emerged as a core manufacturing and export base for carbon fiber products in China, establishing a significant industrial cluster across high-end application domains including sports equipment, outdoor gear, drones, automotive lightweighting and modification, aerospace, and intelligent robotics.
Carbon fiber components, characterized by high specific strength and high specific modulus, corrosion resistance and weather resistance, excellent fatigue resistance, design flexibility and monolithic structural integration, lightweighting-enabled energy efficiency improvement, and excellent electromagnetic shielding and thermal stability, have become critical enablers for performance enhancement and energy optimization in these industries.
In the drone industry, carbon fiber composites account for over 90% of the total structural weight, significantly enhancing endurance and flight stability; in the new energy vehicle sector, they are widely applied in battery enclosures, body frameworks, and chassis components, enabling full-vehicle weight reduction of 15%–30% and directly improving range and energy efficiency; in the field of intelligent robotics, carbon fiber components effectively reduce the inertia of moving parts, thereby improving response speed and control precision.
As the industrial core of South China, Guangdong Province has formed a downstream application cluster for carbon fiber, with Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, and Huizhou as its hubs. This cluster covers the entire chain—from design and R&D, precision forming, to international export. Local enterprises export their products to Europe, the Americas, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, making Guangdong a key node in the global supply chain for high-end lightweight components.
